Graviton searches at ATLAS

Tracey Berry (Royal Holloway, University of London)

Abstract

The ATLAS experiment at the LHC recorded data from proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV in 2011 and collected data at 8 TeV in 2012. ATLAS collected an integrated luminosity of over 20 inverse femtobarns in 2012. The combination of the high centre of mass energy, the large amount of data available and the excellent detector performance has enabled searches for evidence of new physics at these unprecedented energy scales to be performed. In this talk I will give an overview of the ATLAS searches for gravitons. This will include searches for different extra dimensional models (large & warped extra dimensional models) which could be detected via a variety of signatures in the ATLAS detector. The talk will summarise the graviton emission searches and describe the graviton exchange searches which result in resonant and non- resonant signatures for example in the dilepton channels.
