Abstract
The strong interaction allows the formation of multiquark hadrons in
addition to the conventional qqbar mesons and qqq baryons discussed in
textbooks. Such particles had never clearly been observed until recently,
but data from LHCb and other experiments is now opening the door to this new
sector of spectroscopy. The key experimental results will be summarised,
together with the main outstanding questions and the approaches that will be
pursued to address them.
