Dark Matter at the LHC

Steve Worm (Birmingham University)

Abstract

The existence of "Dark Matter", as inferred from astronomical observations such as the rotation of galaxies and gravitational lensing, seems a pretty safe bet. There is a good chance that a new, invisible (dark!) particle is responsible. With the Large Hadron Collider, we have a new tool for the search-- perhaps we can we make Dark Matter at the LHC, and study it in the lab? I will present the results of searches for Dark Matter in proton-proton collision data at the LHC, and also the latest ideas for where it might be hiding. I will discuss the techniques used to search for Dark Matter at the LHC, the interpretation of the results, and also the prospects for the future.
