Abstract

The top-quark mass, close to the electroweak breaking scale, is surprisingly large in comparison to that of other quarks. This could well be a hint that the top quark plays a special role in new physics beyond the Standard Model. Such new physics could well manifest itself in new heavy particles that prefer to decay to pairs of top quarks, leading to peaks in the invariant mass distribution. In this seminar I will review recent searches for new heavy particles in top-antitop final states and discuss prospects for such searches in future Large Hadron Collider running.
