Abstract
The Gaia satellite is transforming our understanding of the distribution of
dark matter in the Milky Way.
I will discuss the impact on experiments searching for the direct detection of
dark matter of sub-structures that have recently been detected in the Milky
Way's dark matter halo with Gaia data: the 'Gaia Sausage' and 'Dark Shards'.
