Title: Summary from workshop TOP 2006
Speaker: Dr Jürgen Thomas (Birmingham)
Abstract
The International Workshop on Top Quark Physics took place in January 2006 in Coimbra, Portugal. The workshop covered the current theoretical and experimental status of our knowledge of the top quark, and an outlook into the future. The theoretical part noted especially the accessibility for new physics through analysing top events. The accuracy on top properties like mass, spin and couplings has been enhanced by improvements in calculations and simulations. The current experimental status included latest measurements from the FNAL experiments D0 and CDF, who apply sophisticated analysis techniques. Results of studies on physics potential of the future colliders were shown, which will provided high statistics of top-pair and single-top events. Studies using detailed detector simulations from the LHC experiments CMS and ATLAS were presented. Further ahead, the improvements expected from the Linear Collider were discussed. Dr Thomas will report on the highlights of this workshop. All presentations of the workshop can be accessed via: Top 2006 Workshop Agenda
This Particle Physics Seminar will take place in Seminar Room 2 (room 106), Physics West, at 1315. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served at 1300.
