Title: Neutrino Physics at KARMEN
Speaker: Dr. Ian Blair (RAL/QMW)
Abstract
The KARMEN experiment has been running on the ISIS accelerator at
the Rutherford Laboratory for over a decade and is scheduled to
finish taking data next year. It is investigating a number of
aspects of neutrino physics including the prospect of oscillations
between different flavours which would arise from non-zero mass.
Also, an unexpected anomaly was seen in the time distribution of
observed events which could be interpreted as evidence for a
previously unknown exotic particle. The experimental technique
will be described and the latest results presented.
